Make a Transom Plate?

I have a 4.6 Avon Typhoon. I am putting a newer motor on this boat. I want to put stainless steel bolts through the four engine mount holes of the motor. However the original Avon transom plate is 2-3 inches to small. I have some heavy duty aluminum stock that I used to remake the front floorboard for this boat. This is what I would use to make the transom plate. Does anyone see problems with such a homemade transom plate.
Thanks

The original Avon transom plate was intended to provide grip for the thumbscrew fixings on small outboards. If you're bolting through, then some penny washers on the inside of the transom would do the job.

Thanks for the input. I was wondering if I need the thumbscrews at all given that there will be four through bolts.

No, you don't need them if the motor is bolted onto the transom. Your replacement motor is unlikely to have them if it can be fixed with 4 bolts.
