I looked into it once but it's very tidal. The slip next to the independent lifeboat is ok for just under 3 hrs either side of high water but the channel is narrow. If you are on transom wheels it may be easier and have a larger window. Another possibility for the smaller boat would be Parton (just north of Whitehaven but access is under a tight railway arch so no use with our rib). There are also free possibilities in Whitehaven as there is a free slip to the north of the harbour. It's again restricted to a few hours either side of high tide (don't know how high). There is also another possibility in the outer harbour at Whitehaven or you can go further south to St Bees and beach launch. Further north, you could possibly beach launch at Siloth.
We use Whitehaven Harbour but that incurs a £12 fee and means you have to go through the lock, which can be time consuming. With the rib though it makes launch and recovery a doddle as there is no tide or waves to worry about.
