My Mum was the only land girl on Jura during the war and they built them brutal in those days - when we found a rat hole outside our front door she just said ‘fill it with broken glass’ ouch!

I use a double wheelie bin, rolled up sib goes in at a push with fuel can on top to hold lid down. Very generous of local council cough. First time storing it away from where we have our cat and neighbours cat, fingers crossed. Pesky varmints

I leave my sib in my shed. I caught 8 mice in traps last winter. I also had mouse poison in the shed. I don't know if the smell of bait encourages them. I might see if the sib will fit in a wheelie bin or get a big plastic box

The purpose of the poison is to attract them so you want to put down bait traps periodically as once they've bobbled the inhabitants all it does is draw more in and not all of them tuck in.
