MkII Zodiac Floor

Hi all.

I have posted this in the bits and pieces section but thought I'd try here too. I am trying to get an original mkII Zodiac Classic floor. Does anyone have anything that is surplus to requirements? Obviously I am willing to pay for these. Anything considered, wood, aluminium or composite. I don't need the stringers or the bow board but would take them also if available.

Cheers

Adam

MK2 Classic Floor...

Hey Adam,

I may be able to help with a floorboard set. I have a some new and others used - also have a great source for new replacement boards - OEM only... If you can get me the serie # and serial (HIN) number that would give me a starting point, and if you can measure the length and width of the main board (straight) section I may be able to match up a set. I have a bunch and need to lay them out and measure. If you have the stringers and bow boards great!

Let me know,
Take care

Floorboards...

Adam,

Sorry but I just realized that you are on the other side of the planet - shipping a floorboard set is expensive... Have you tried any local dealers in the UK? You may also want to post a few adds at some marinas - a lot of times you can find a good old Zodiac rotting out in the yard and salvage the boards...

Good luck and take care,

Fry

Thanks Fry, the dealer wants a fortune for them! Just had a look at a good set of used boards from a 1992 mkII touring. These have three main boards plus one trapeze board and a bow board. Does anyone know if Zodiac did away with the thrust board on the later Zodiacs? I am thinking that if these fit I could then just remove my thrust board. Any help would be great thanks.

That's what my Mk IIC had. It was a 90 or 91. What's a thrust board?

A thrust board is a plank that is fixed to the tubes where they meet the hull and on mine it is positioned just before the bow section. The floor boards get tensioned between the thrust board and the transom leaving an un-tensioned triangular board in the bow.

I was hoping to remove this thrust board and have the whole floor under tension as per the later design. I am assuming this is possible as the shapes look to fit each other. I don't know if Zodiac used any extra strengthening on the later design. I don't want to remove the thrust board only to have to glue it back in because the designs can't be made compatible.

OK, learn something new every day. In mine, and newer style ones the entire floor fits very tightly from bow to transom. In order for you to use that you'd have to ensure that the inside length is precisely the same. And the shape too. Good luck.

I've managed to find a good new design floor that does not need the thrust board. Going to try it for fit this weekend so fingers crossed it fits or can be made to fit easily.
