I had a look on that Ceasar website, they do a 3.8m Inflatable that can take a 70HP [emoji41]

That would be a lot of fun! Sure I remember seeing that someone tried a 50hp on the 3.2m minicat, a 70ces doesn’t weight much more... that would definitely be exciting

Been having a read through this thread over the weekend - some really interesting and inspiring stuff - love the fact that you design your own stuff when necessary!

I've been thinking about hopping up my 50 Yamaha this year - I'll be sticking around!

Glad you're enjoying it!
A lot of parts you either can't get or just aren't good enough quality in my opinion, I'm working on a new exhaust for the Yamaha at the moment.
Looks like a cool wee boat that, must fly with a 50hp on it!

Picked up a couple of Tohatsu 50hp's before Christmas, got them both running but both making a lot of noise due to worn crankshaft bearings. Tore one of them down so far, sent the crank off to have new bearings put on, ended up getting 1 new conrod too. Gave the pistons a clean, new base gasket, a lick of paint. Removed the lighting coils too, should free up a bit of power. Finally gave it a service, new plugs and changed gear oil. Tore the other engine down yesterday it will get the same treatment.

Also got another zapcat, from the same guy who sold me the Tohatsus. Looked pretty rough when I got it but holds air fairly well, just needs one patch. Gave it a bit of a clean today, going to have a look at removing some of the old stickers soon. Definitely needs a new floor, came with the old one but the ply is totally worn and coming apart.
Was thinking of doing up one of the engines up in matte white with custom stickers, then I'd have an all white boat to go with my all black Ceasar

Saw your old yellow tiger stripe one the other day. In a very sorry state! All deflated and green with the nose cone hanging out with broken seems! And a tired looking engine hanging off the back...I think it’s ready for the skip

That boat was pretty tired when my mate owned it, I imagine it's nearing the end of its useful life now. Saw a photo of it Instagram about a year ago, looked like an old zapcat racing engine on the back. Do you know who owns it? Would buy it back if it was cheap enough!

Was down in Stewartby last weekend, did a race in order to get a national racing license. Basically means I can attempt a British speed record at Coniston, exciting times! Got a few things I'd like to do to the boat before then, and lots of prop testing and tuning.
Racing was fun, was a circuit race first of the thundercat uk season. I jumped in the boat as codriver with Andy White (Team 55).

Even as codriver I get a driver license, so saved myself some money and the hassle of taking a boat down. Big thanks to Andy and the Haggis Hunter team
Also came away with a gold medal, chuffed with that!

There was an accident while we were dwon there, the driver was alright fortunately. Here's a link to the video -

Back at home now, had some nice parts waiting for me. New throttle roller I designed, 3D printed in Ninjaflex by a friend of mine, top quality part and has a ridge to stop my hand slipping

And some billet exhausts I designed for the 70ces, only keeping one of them. Really nice parts, top quality. Designed to homologation sheet dimensions but squared off a bit.

Got some 15mm marine ply to make a new floor for the Zapcat, cut and sanded down, will have four coats of paint too. Does look good having the white and black boats together

Also got the crank for the second engine back, they forgot to weld it so had it welded locally, really nice job

Decided to build another 70hp short shaft, got the leg, transom bracket from a 60hp short and the cowling and pull start from a 60 Enduro. Looking for a 70hp gearbox and powerhead at the moment.

Spent tonight stripping my own engine to change the exhaust, fits well, had to cut 5mm off the tab on the flange. Bought some new carbon reeds from Boyesen to go in as well, hopefully the gearbox is back this week from blueprinting, would be nice to get out in it!

Sent the gearbox to Geoff at Ocean Racing to be reshimmed with new bearings etc. Got it back last week and got sanding the outisde, took a fair bit of metal from the skeg and a bit from the bullet too, not quite down to the homologation sheet but a lot slimmer than it was. Used filler primer to smooth it off and then 2 thin coats of silver on top.

Got out for a blast yesterday, was still quite windy around 20 knots. Engine is running the best it ever has, everything is absolutely spot on. Need to get my steering damper setup though, plenty of speed wobbles now I've removed the bungees. Very very happy with how it ran, got 50 knots with the 15G yamaha, which given the conditions is excellent.
