Name of outboard panel for sliding in and out of boot?
I once saw someone had made a fairly simple flat board with a slot at the bottom and bungee cords to hold the outboard in place making it easier to slide in and out of their vehicle boot in a layed side on position.
Can anyone remember what theyre called or know if there's a thread here about it? I'm trying to find examples before I make one just out of interest but I can't think what it was called and not having any luck locating what I saw last time.
Thanks!

Hi, it may have been a picture of mine or chipko's. I'm out again tomorrow, if I remember I'll take a picture and post it.

Cheers. I've found some clever designs from chipko now you mentioned him. Also seen what I was looking for referred to as a crawler board. Still sure there was another name but getting ideas.

Thanks both!
I found what I think is your crawler Steve. By the way, also enjoying your reports from Pembrokeshire. Love the place. Been going all my life but new to sibbing.

Pembrokeshire and West Wales are some of my favourite places.
Took some pics of the crawler board today.

Thanks. I'm messing around with prototypes as I'm tempted to do that or something with wheels.
I had family lived in Broad Haven in the 70s. Go atleast once a year. Special place. They had a Shetland in Neyland actually a few years ago, but I wasn't interested at the time.
I wonder what the chances are of some settled weather end October down there..

I should have shown it in the pictures, the reverse of the board has 12 small casters on it so it slides in and out the back of the truck easily.

Bit late to the party but here’s the wheeled car loader. Built for our lardy 47.5kg Mariner 20 efi although pics show a tiny 3.5 motor, but you’ll get the drift. Works a treat.

If only the 20hp were that size chipko…….we would all have backs and bits in better condition……or maybe more likely to be using 30hp instead
Being new to sibbing mbits, just make sure you are laying the ob down the correct way (depending on type) and I personally keep the head up a bit higher as well as you see in chipko photographs.

Is that a heavy domestic 80/20 Berber wool mix?

I went a bit far with this. I realise I asked about crawler boards but then decided to try to just stick more wheels on the trolley.
It's actually easier to just carry my current 6hp. Also its a bit top heavy and takes up too much space. My only issue is where my outboard is stored is quite a walk down garden and through the house. Also thinking about how to flush it while on hols if the boat has to be deflated. My last hol I had to carry it quite a way to somewhere I could do that and give it a clean. With one eye on a 9.8 in the future I'm thinking beyond the fairly easy to move 6HP.
For now though I have a few spare castors so will go for something like Steves and Chipkos.

I very rarely flush my OB whilst away on holiday. I only do it if there is a hose handy or if we are on a fully serviced caravan pitch.
Obviously I give it a good clean and flush when I get home.

I'm working on a crawler now. Are you guys just resting it on the propeller or is there a bit of padding behind to sit it just off?

A block to sit the skeg on is all ours has, although the carpet pads everything out.

Like chipko above (which it would be as that's who I got the idea from) or if you mean when the OB is lying down it rests on the AV plate and the prop shaft housing with the carpet underneath.

Not that I've ever cared when just chucking it in the van but now I've sat it on a board I realise its resting on the prop. I was toying with the idea of lifting it up on the skeg. Thanks.

Personally I wouldn't lift it up on the skeg, I put a packing block under the AV plate. The 3x2 that your skeg is on needs to be bigger so when you slide it out of your car the skeg won't slip off it.
That looks a smallish outboard, do you actually need a crawler board?
