Navigation/Chart App

I do a lot of hillwalking and use Viewranger for plotting and tracking progress, which got me thinking on what's available whilst out on the boat.

I found Navionics....it seems good.

Plenty of info and live data, I'm guessing the live data will require an adequate signal though.

You get a free trial for 2 weeks so why not give it a bash. Probably an overkill for plodding about the coast but you can never have enough info!!

Been using it for a year now, I rate it very highly. I use the android version which is great and allows you to load to any number of devices. So have it loaded to my phone and tablet.

I've just got it on my iPhone. Do you pay the £25 or whatever it is every year for the full app? Regardless, it's still a bargain. I'll need to sit down and footer about with it tonight.

If you buy the full version, mine cost £42.99, you can use that licence for other same OS devices so if you buy on iPhone you can use on other i devices and same for android but can't swap between the two. Quite a lot of info on the forum for those that tried this with the usual pros/cons. If you're using or buying a tablet make sure it has built in GPS as that will be one less thing to plug in/buy. Last bit of chatter I read is here: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=72116
