New Bombard Aerotec 380

Hello all,

1st outing in my new Bombard Aerotec 380 with its 2012 Mariner 15hp 2 stroke a couple of weeks back as the weather ever since has been awful up here in Scotland.

Have to say compared to the old Honwave air floor it handles more like a proper rib.

Keen to see what upgrades I should do to the boat while I can't get out on the water.

I have already purchased a bigger fuel tank (25litre) and cut a black anti slip floor as per some previous comments from Max.

Any other upgrades, suggestions and tips would be helpful.

I'll post pictures up as soon as I can

Thanks

Simon

Congratulations Simon.

We were out on ours in flat water yesterday and never fail to be blown away by the handling of these things. If feeling bold (and secure within the boat) you can be going along at full chat (say 17/18 kts) and pull the tiller right over and the thing just grips and turns in a ridiculously tight circle with no skidding or washout - look back at the wake and perfect 'S' trails are left.

I guess it's technically not possible given the clever two piece V floor design but it would be fantastic if Bombard could somehow flatten the rear of the (draggy) deep V towards the transom (like a RIB) to improve top end speed and also hopefully lose the waterjet out back.

If not already seen I posted in these topics with minor mods and set ups:

http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/bombard...ass-62326.html

http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/rigging...tec-71912.html

At the weekend we were running slightly lighter and I was pleasantly surprised at the (relatively) large increases in speed - by ditching the drybag I normally have in the front and using the regular 25 litre hard tank (rather than bladder) right against the transom I even saw 19.4 kts max on my own. A bit flightly up front though with the lack of weight (still had the heavy Peli Case midships though) so for bigger seas I prefer the improved feeling of being 'planted' with some bow weight.

Thanks max I will look into your other mods on the link and give the sharp turn a go next time I'm out.

Do you inflate yours each time you use the boat or is it always sitting on a trolley / trailer

Work up to full chat sharp turns gradually and be sure your passengers know what's coming!

Ours is inflated all season in the garage and transported on the Landy roof.

Loch Lomond weekend

So decided with it being a day trip to take the bombard out in some fresh water sibbing.

So headed out with my friend mark with his Avon sea rider.

Headed to Luss for the afternoon and back to Inchmurrin before heading back to shore.

The boat went well and handled the afternoon chop pretty well too.
