new commando C3 owner
Hi, I'm new to you site and a new owner of a C3 commando with a tohatsu MC40hp outboard. I think I really like this boat so far. I lifted the outboard about 1 1/2", and run it with the trim back in the 3rd hole out. This is the max hp rated for this boat and it seems a little scary at wot. My rear "seat" is a truck box I added to foam too and my front seat I made with some aluminum tubing my neighbor welded for me and a piece of plywood. I modified my trailer I got with it since the boat is a solid keel and added rollers and bunks. The axle had already been moved back some to add more tongue weight. The trailer seems to be working out pretty well so far. It had a 1/2" piece of plywood that was evidently water-logged as it weighed about 125 lbs! when I took it off. I'm toying with the idea of tabs or a hydrofoil on the outboard to tame the extreme bow-rise on take-off. It doesn't take long to plane, but sure rises high! Has anyone ever SEEN a ruined transom on a sib due to an outboard hydrofoil?
