Newbie needs advice
Hi Everyone,
I have been given an old Avon Sportboat and before I use it I would like to make sure I get things right.
It has no plate on the transom, I have been told it will take 4 people and a max engine of 10hp. I have read that some models take 25hp, anyway I think 10hp will be plenty but I wanted to check it out as I'm not sure what the model number is.
I would like to use it on rivers and close to the coast on the sea. Is it ok to use on the sea and if so what is the maximum distance you can travel off-shore? I have life jackets and can swim well.
The boat would have originally had a cover at the front as I can see where it was stuck down. I would like to replace this, any ideas on material or where to find bits?
I would also like to register the boat and give it a name?
Sorry for all of the questions, I'm quite excited about getting it fixed up and on the water.
