Newbie patch question on FC470

Hi All
Newbie question. Found a few leaks on my FC470. One is very close to a seam (see attached pic). Reading about patching hypalon it is recommended that the patch should 3 inches beyond the whole. With that requirement the patch will go over the seam. Should I apply the patch while the boat is inflated? Is there anything special in applying a patch over a seam?
Thanks

You can install the patch inflated and rub out any bubbles then deflate to allow it to cure without air pushing it from the backside of the patch.
