I'd be more open to going on the sea if there was another sib around.
i know how you feel.... i need flares and vhf radio realistically for the sea. i am in talks with North Wales Power and Sail - North Wales Power and Sail to book a pb2 course and vhf after .... going sibfest deux so hoping to pick up some hints /tips etc from those going (i believe you can use a vhf under supervision)... but you cant beat safety in numbers and i have a mini doughnut for the kids so could be fun just planing up and down

I've done PB2, day skipper (coastal power) and VHF but this is my first boat.
I've borrowed a handheld VHF (crappy midland one but its new and better than nothing) and have orange smoke and lifejackets, anchor etc so gear wise I'm sorted. There is always a lot of wind along the North Norfolk coast.

Hmm doughnuts...

Last October we were in gt yarmouth during the final heatwave of the year, the sea was as flat as pancake not a wave in site, I only wish I had the boat then! However my trips out from Harwich which is local to me generally involve rain and wind etc....the coast around this way is sure funny!

a lot of launching ramps / places are now not in use because the council wont maintain them ,they would rather you use private slips at a cost ....... beware if you launch from the bank there are bye laws and fines .....

sutton staith there is a slip £5 to launch but some charge upto £25 no matter what size boat you have

beware of broards police speed traps i got a caution for 5.7 mph in a 5 mph zone

Blimey. Is that the 10% + 2 rule?

Was that a proper police caution for speeding with a fine or a telling off?

The one at Wroxham Broad is good. Take lots of pound coins for the ticket machine! This guide is also useful: http://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/b...s_Slipways.pdf

Great pic on page 4 of a small boat with electric bow thruster

were going to give this a go next weekend , just for a bit of clowning around...... have decided were not there long enough to do the broads this time...it looks a fairly good place to launch and really close to cromer

If you see an Excel SD330 at Vale Road - that will be us. We've not deceided exactly what we are doing yet but we will be heading for the Wroxham at some point to launch from Riverside park.

Vale Rd Trimmington Report.
As said free parking, quiet even on a sunny bank holiday Saturday afternoon. It is possible to drive down to the beach, unload and then drive up 30 meters to the car park. When we were there there were 2 4x4s on the beach and two vans at the bottom of the road. There isn't a slipway, just a road that stops at the beach.
NR11 8DF is the post code of the "Sandy Gulls" caravan site next to it.

We found it OK, but way too choppy for a SIB- The jet skiers were having fun though.
This photo was taken from where we parked.

Hoveton Riverside Park Report:

The park has a decking platform for an easy chuck in. The hammer shaped water is where we launched.
http://pikeonline.co.uk/fishery-maps...e-park-hoveton

Park for free off Station Road, behind the tourist info office NR12 8DB. Go down next to the Pharmacy then behind. The public toilets have soap and hot water and don't stink either.

Boat in a boot 20 meters from the water.

If this is full park in Roy's carpark. The sign said free for up to 4 hours, but no further sign-age or payment meters. The chap in Tourist office said it was fine to park there all day when I was buying my licence, 1 week licence for £22.50

Having parked, its either a 20 meter hump to the public moorings or a 50 meter hump to the decking platform.

The public moorings were busy and I didn't want get squashed by a hire boat so we went for the decking - Sheltered and calm. Its deep enough for the outboard.

Excel moored at the launch platform

The foot bridge is about three feet air draft so easy to slip under but it keeps the hire boats out. After the bridge you can join the main river and then go where you like. A few canoes used this deck but that was it.

Super SIB launch/recovery place - We have used this on two days so far and are hoping to get another day in this week!

We passed two Broads Authority speed traps by Wroxham Broad, both shouted to see our licence numbers - I didn't stick them to the Excel as I was warned that I may not get them off! Instead I had them in poly wallets flapping about. The GPS ensured that we were doing the 5 mph. The boat overtaking us got the "Slow Down" sign.
