novice in need of urgent advice.

hi all, I've recently bought a 2013 mariner 9.9hp 4st outboard. I'm looking at buying a bombard 380 aerotec or honwave t32ie just want to know if the engine will get either boat to plane with the wife and myself or can anyone recommend any other good quality SIB? Any input much appreciated. Darren.

Hi Darren
Welcome to Ribnet.
Both those boats should easily plane with your 9.9 Mariner and 2 up.
In fact been out today on my 3.5m Zodiac/9.8hp Tohatsu, 2 on board, slight chop etc - max 18mph but will plane from around 12/13mph.
I also have an Aerotec 380 which achieves similar speeds but more fun!
Both boats your looking at are good but the Aerotec is a firm favourite with many on here, myself included.

Good to hear you've found a boat so quickly, and an Aerotec to boot! I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Have fun on the water.

Hi and welcome to RIBnet , Porth Daniel at Menai is a decent slip, not sure if you have to register with Anglesey council with a sib also you must have 3rd party insurance up to 3 million I think . Here's the link

Kerny, it looks like I'll have to pay a £15 registration fee for 12 months and get third party insurance for up to 3 million pounds. However daily launcing fees are £16 for 10hp engines and above. My question is will I have to pay with our outboard only being a 9.9hp?

I think that is the point of a 9.9hp motor, it isn't 10HP!
