Numpty question regarding floor slats :)

Hi I've recently picked up from Biffer a Narwhal Tender minus floor slats so i'm just sorting some now but not having owned/used one of these before , length wise do I make them a tight fit into the side 'pockets' under the tubes or do you leave a few mill gap either side to allow for movement etc? Sorry to dull down a Friday night with such dribble but any advice is appreciated regards AL

I know Zodiac floor slats are quite tight, which I suppose adds rigidity. The front slat is always the tightest, the rest have a few mill of play.
