Outboard Fuel Connector Lock

Just preparing for our sib trip to the West Coast and Security came to mind, particularly while away from the sib either camping, stopping off for lunch, or being away for a bit of hill walking etc

Was pondering on a way to slow down an opportunist thief and came across these below.

I realise if anyone really wants to take your OB and even the complete sib....you won’t stop them, but I did wonder if this would slow them down from just simply powering off with the sib.

I had already thought of taking away the kill switch key and disconnecting the fuel pipe a little, but thought this might just be another layer of inconvenience that might move the thief on to someone else’s pride and joy.

Has anyone got this or similar? Or am I wasting my time? And MORE money

Still to get a lock bar thing for the outboards clamps, because I dont plan to bolt the ob on as yet.

Any reasonably priced that you recommend that will keep the Insurance happy?

Hi Brian, like that idea. Just ordered one.

Still think you should consider bolting your OB through the transom once your happy with its height ect. Not only for the little theft security it provides, but my big fear is the clamps working loose and my OB disappearing into the blue!

Yeah thought the lock was worth a try for the money although I couldnt find anything like them anywhere.

Yip probably will bolt eventually Steve. Got a thin steel cable and will padlock the clamp handles for now, but will try and remember to check them now and then anyway after what your engine mounts did.

Any reviews Ive seen so far with my setup and (I think PDs was identical) didn't need any adjustments for height but you never know.

Will find out a week tomorrow anyway

You feeling any better yet?

I do have this terrible fear that covid will catch me last minute and bugger up our plans for this year. Work staff and clients full of it...so going to lock myself away all week and wear 3 masks at once!

My OB sits directly on the transom without any packers. I think most with Excels have found that the AV plate a little below the keel is the best position.

Feel much better than I did, but still either boiling hot or freezing cold. I'm in the doghouse with Diane as well, she's posative now and is in bed feeling really bad!

I'm sure you'll be fine and get away on the water next week.

Certainly hope so because we won't get much chance again until September when we had planned another trip to the wild west!

Wishing you both a full recovery.......and you better start your crawling now!

👍
Although with the way fuel prices are going there will be more need to carry the fuel tanks as well jeff or have them chained up!

You need to semi-retire Brian, Sept!! You've missed out May-August!

Neat, visible and might make the scumbags chose an easier target. Thanks for the heads up Brian.

Dead right small fortune in my 43 & 22 ltr tanks, to be fair I don’t like leaving my trailer either so easy to pick up and throw in a pickup truck.
