Outboard spray

I guys, bit of help required. I've got a 3.85m Achilles SIB and a 15hp short shaft Tohatsu outboard. I am having a few problems with the amount of water that it being kicked up when I open her up; so much water is spraying up that it is flooding back through a gap in the transom clamp and filling the boat up! Far from ideal. Any suggestions?

Yes, Tohatsu and low transom height are not very compatible, + 2.5 cm transom shim raise should solve your excessive water splashes issues.

Thanks guys, very helpful. Tried raising it yesterday when we were out and it seems to have done the trick. Put me off ever going with a tohatsu in the future.

Nothing wrong with Tohatsu, it's not a malfunction, it's all related to lower unit design and all engines needs to be height seated correctly at transom under trial and error if wanting cruising perfection, it's not a matter of placing motor and bon voyage!! Check any engine brand owners manual for engine/transom/keel height parameters..
