Does anyone have any solutions on how to store on outboard on a boat without the use of a bracket?
Many Thanks

Hi Popes,
What are you trying to do? What's the engine you're trying to store and why isn't the transom appropriate? Is this for the Honwave? Is it an air deck?

Yep we've got to know what you're trying to achieve before offering ideas.

Well basically I need a solution on how to store the outboard when its not on the dinghy. An bracket isn't an option.
Btw it's a 5hp Honda engine.

Sorry I still don't understand
Do you have two boats? or just the one?
Is the outboard being stored at home (i.e. a garage?)
Can you set the scene/describe the scenario a bit better?

Ahhhh ok now I get it. You didn't mention that.
Can you not just leave it on the tender's transom? I see plenty of others that do.

Does the speedboat have lockers or storage large enough to stow the Honda or is your problem that it needs to be out on show?

Well for our Mariner 4hp which is saved for river use and only sees action once a year I have a bag like this... Outboard Covers & Accessories - Portable Outboard Carry Bag . Not that brand but one in thick vinyl which gives great protection when it's stored in the garage and carried in the car. It's a proper snug fit to the outboard and makes a neat package.
Of course with the Honda being a 4-stroke you have to ensure it is stored the correct way.
Other than something like a bag in the locker you are back to a bracket... is there nowhere to site one?
Oh yes and I have seen someone with blocks mounted on the floor that locate a small outboard then it's secured by a strap over each end.

Sadly it's deep in the garage at the moment and I don't remember the brand.
The most important thing for me is it's thick cushioning vinyl, zips up fully and has well balanced handles so you can carry the outboard like a briefcase.
I've owned another type which was thin nylon (like a £20 waterproof), poorly shaped and a bit oversize so the outboard slopped about in it plus the handles were off the point of balance so you needed two people or the prop end would drag on the ground. Really it was no more use than just as a dust cover.
