Painting name on a Zodiac 310fr
Hello again all,
I want to paint a name on my SIB (and post code) but I am finding it hard to find paint that is in a small enough quantity to do this. I can find paint, but it is sold in large tins eg 1ltr and is expensive for just a name. So I was wondering if any of you excellent people know of an "alternative" or link where I could get smaller quantities (250ml).
Thanks in advance and blessings
Andy
ps still working on the wheels project (I used to be indecisive but I'm not so sure now).
Andy
pps because of the people who have helped me so much I am going to be a "Supporter" tomorrow

Hi Andy, if you do a search on ebay for either "PVC" or "Hypalon Stencil kit" it will bring up a few choices.

I may have been on board as I flew to Gan then! I was on a VC10 number XV108, Man that was 9 months "unacompanied" in Gan. Thank God I was with the aircraft and not posted there!

Well it was a VC10 that I flew out in but cannot remember the exact date (its an age thing ) but having said that they did not fly out that often so could well have been on the same flight (small world).
Yes you are right it was a 9 month unnacompanied tour used to be 13 months with a month back in the uk after 6 months, so on reflection I think it was better to do the 9 rather than have to go back after a month at home.
What a place though we only worked from 7am > 1pm as it got too hot so had plenty of leisure time fishing boating and the like

I do not think it will do any harm (but cannot be 100% sure) but I think it might just peel off could be worth a try, maybe just try a bit in an area out of sight see how it goes.
Good luck with the wheels

I had good luck with "Sharpie"-brand Oil-Based Paint Markers on my PVC boat. Perhaps they have these or something similar available in the UK. They need to dry for a bit, but don't eat the PVC, and don't rub off too easily. They can be removed with acetone or MEK. The best part is that they are easy to use and then re-cap, and also only cost a few bucks each. I should do a little write-up.

I've only had the boat for several months now, but it seems to be holding up just fine. I haven't had to recoat it yet, but time will tell.

Interesting. My girlfriend (soon to be wife) is a UK citizen, and has relatives in Wales.
