Parking up for the night and launching at South Sands Salcombe latest info wanted.
Howdy,
I'm about to go on a 2 week campervan road trip along with my daughter and with my 3.2m sib and Yam 8 strapped all on the back of a tow-hitch carry platform. So almost fully independent for inshore sea, river and land.
I plan to go south west Eng then a short stop in Hayle, then up the west coast and finally over to West Wales before going back east to London.
(Wish I had a month really).
First up, I would like to launch at South Sands Salcombe for a few days but stay parked in the car park there, which I understand is or was privately owner (by the waterfront hotel).
There is no mention on-line of this being one of the Council run carparks in the Salcombe area (with thier various restrictions, etc).
I've read if you buy a drink at the hotel, you can use this carpark and also leave your boat under thier front veranda. Also, in all the various beach guides, it says there is free parking but limited spaces for beach users.
So, can anyone with recent experience of how things rolls there shine light on the situation?
I wouldn't want to rack up there in the early morning to get the best corner space only.to find i have to move on or leave before night fall.
I know there's a good campsite Higher Rew nearby, which is a fall back option.
I wasthen really hoping to move on to Penmarlam and Mixtow slipway on the Fowey. Alas, the camping and caravan park very close to there has closed and its only nice expensive lodges now.
Has anyone found an alternative place to stay parked up near the Mixtow slipway etc? The river looking really nice from around there.
Can you think of other options for this easy in and out, then rest up spots that I may have missed in all the previous topics on the subject of dreamy and easy slipways or beaches.
We will go on to West Wales for the second week and I'm all sorted there with its many free and easy options.
OK, thanks, will send in pics and report is even some of it falls into place.
