Plastimo boats

Are these any good?
I can find some posts about Plastimo's accessories but not the actual boats.

How about Seabos?

Honwave are the obvious choice being a great combination of value new, holding their value used, being decent SIBs in performance and quality... and being easily found new/used.

Suzumar are virtually identical with all the same attributes but a little less known in some circles so perhaps a little lower on resale.

Avoid Plastimo and Seabo.

BTW when you first posted you'd already impulse bought your first SIB. Now you are looking for an upgrade have you sorted out the advantages/disadvantages of air floor vs alloy/wood floor and the different lengths that might suit??

In some ways, we regret impulse buying the first boat - we went out for breakfast one day and came home with a boat.
I did say to the Mr at the time not to buy it straight away, to go home and research but sometimes he has cloth ears.
If we had done full research about what was involved, we never would have bought one which would be a shame as we have enjoyed our days on the water.

Yes, we have made mistakes with the motors but we had no idea what power we needed - just had to suck it and see.

I was also convinced we would get bored on the Dee after 30 mins so I didn't want to overspend while we worked out if it was for us. However, we were out 4-5 hours one day so the concept has been proven.

Now we have sunk money into this hobby we need to ensure we get the most out of what we have put in and future proof, as much as we can, our investment.

Cloth Ears is pretty set on a solid/aluminium floor. Without getting out and meeting people with their boats to feel the difference, I can't see him changing his mind.
Would an air floor be suitable for using something like this?: Tommy Bahama Backpack Folding Beach Chair in Blue | Costco UK -

The main reason to switch boat is that OH has changed his mind, again, about using a heavier/more powerful motor than our boat is rated for.
The overall boat size is not really the sticking point, so I am thinking a max of 3.4m. I like how fairly little space the current SIB takes up in the shed and I don't want to loose that.

Ah if you are going for the patio set an alloy floor is best. So that brings it down to the 3.5AE really in the Honwaves as they jump from 3m to 3.5m in their ally floor range. The Suzumar is also about (or exactly) the same length.

Other brands to consider are Quicksilver and Excel.

Can I suggest you do your best to meet some other members with similar boats and give them a try before buying.

Are you planning on using the patio furniture while under way? Or dust putting in the boat to take to picnic spot?

Another good advantage with the ally floor is if you plan to bring the BBQ along too. Don't do this if you do go airfloor though.

we use that chair on the boat. and the driver's seat is currently a scaffold board wrapped with carpet for comfort!

Ours has a jockey console (rib) so the idea of using a deck/patio chair never really occurred to me. I guess fine on flat water but not so good in choppy water?

so far on the river, we have not encountered choppy water. but we do realize that this won't always be suitable

It works well for us - its low which helps.
Can be a little tricky switching when we want to switch "driver".
