That sounds like my Google search for holiday cottages...

Holiday cottage... sea view... near slipway.... dogs allowed.

It was really interesting seeing the commercial side of the Cleddau. The stark contrast of the beautiful countryside, river, sea and beaches sitting alongside the industrial side of the estuary was at times hard to come to terms with.
The juxtaposition of Stack Rock Fort built to defend against any French attack by Napolean III and the 20th century industrialisation can be seen in the picture below.
I should hopefully get a video posted by the end of next week.
I think I’ve dived and inspected every jetty over the years there Steve brings back memories

I think you'll enjoy the video when I get it done Jeff, hope I've captured what I saw.
I was intrigued with the jetty's, the oil refinery and the gas terminals and strangely didn't feel it looked out of place, not like Diane who thought it was a blot on the landscape and shouldn't be there!

Although it made me a living I agree with Diane but that’s the catch short term gain OMO

I used to cruise with Paul ( Dhf on here ) and he has many images of Pembrokeshire on his Flikr pages....

( you'll probably have to register with Flikr to view )

Check out Paul Davies Photography if you want to see ( a lot ) more of Pembs.

Its taken a while but I've finally managed to get the video edited, well part 1 of it! I'll get part 2 uploaded over the coming few days.

I hope you like video, it's probably not everyone's idea of of the ideal location to go boating, but I really enjoyed it and would recommend it as a place to visit.

Enjoyed that video Steve. You've really managed some great outings over the year or so since you went to see Terry and followed his command to "open your wallet".

Re the structures it's really weird but I'm comfortable on the sea in all sorts of craft and quite difficult conditions... don't much worry being near large natural landscapes... but huge man made structures have always put me a bit on edge at sea... as I say don't know why just weird.

And the wallet keeps opening

It was one of my better decisions to get back on the water when I turned 60. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it after all these years so I'm making up for lost time.

I'm also in a very fortunate position David that we can get away often in the caravan and odd days out here and there. I only work when I want to and more importantly we're still fit and healthy.

Planning days out in Redneck during the autumn and winter. The Lake District is to close not to take advantage of and frosty, cold, bright, sunny winter days out on the water appeal to me

The non moving man made structures didn't cause any problem, the Irish Ferry on the other hand was a different matter. You can't see it on the video but the wash was far bigger than I expected hence no video until we were long past it.

Closest I would normally get to jetty's like those is when I go to Wigan and pass the memory of what was Wigan Pier

Thanks Jeff, was there more people about then when you worked down there. Both Diane and I commented that there was a significant lack of a human presence!

It’s very short maned on the jetty, the boat crew do their bit as does the shore crew then it’s wait until it’s unloaded. We would be stood down until the boat berths and allowed back whilst they unloaded or move to another berth.

There’s a new no frills campsite on the southern bank of the Cleddau just upstream of the bridge that seems to have a slipway. We never got round to going this year but looks worth a visit

Do they have a website, can't find any details on Google.

No it's very low key - facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/coshestonpoint.camping and message Babs and John via that.

Managed to get Part 2 completed today.

The video shows our return to Cleddau Bridge before passing through to what most people would consider the "Prettier" upper reaches of the Cleddau.

I wonder if it would have been considered the "Prettier" part of the Cleddau back in the late 18th and early 19th centaury when all the wharfs and quays were built to load the coal brought up from the countless pits and mines along the southern shore of the Cleddau.

We really enjoyed our time around Pembroke and we will definitely return. There is so much more to explore, especially further upstream at high tide.

Hope you enjoy the video.

Nice to see the now less industrial side to the area

You are certainly getting the good out of your set up now steve, but if you've only been back boating since you hit 60, your diane must be a great deal younger than yourself
