Our first Scottish adventure started at Kyleakin on Skye, used the excellent free slipway which can be used at all states of tide (thanks Donny
) and free to park.
Suburp weather, sunny, warm, NW breeze about 8mph. Checked the weather for the rest of the day, all good, decided to go to Plockton for lunch.
Out under the Skye bridge, hugged the coast and explored the small islands until we reached the "inner sound", the swell and waves had picked up a little, but nothing too uncomfortable. Explored Loch Carron before mooring up at the visitors pontoon and had an excellent lunch at the Plockton Inn.
Checked the weather before heading back on our return trip, nothing had changed, dry, sunny, NW breeze about 8mph
. That forecast was good until we reached the inner sound. The wind was probably closer to 20mph, but as the wind was over tide (which I knew it would be) it was more big swell, not big waves
but we did get very wet! So pleased I'd bought the Chinook dry pants and Dry cag, they did exactly what they said on the tin.
Got back to Kyleakin slipway safe, sound and extremely happy
