Removing paint from PVC

Hello!
I recently bought a sailboat with a Zodiak Zoom. It has painted-on registration numbers from another state which I must remove. Lacquer thinner removed most but not all of the paint. Paint thiner, alcohol, naptha, household bleach, and hydrogen peroxide had no effect at all.
Any ideas out there??
Thanks in advance for any help!

Acetone or MEK? Some scuffy pad might supply a little bit of scrubbing action to it.

RIBase
Careful with stuff like acetone around PVC - it does damage the material.
i'd try using a very fine piece of sandpaper and carefully sand it off.

Acetone is the cleaner to use for PVC, as per the instructions for glue removal. My boat has had gallons of Acetone used on it. Yet you condone removing material? Not in a million years would I ever say remove material.

There is another option which is to have PVC or some boards made to cover over the current registration.

Paint over them and then repaint your own.
