Repairing marine plywood for zodiac

Hello Boaters,

Have a zodiac Mark II from the late 70s or early 80s. The bow floorboard is fraying and wonder if I could use the same material as indicated by red arrow in picture to patch up the fraying part (shown in the same picture). Problem is I havent a clue what that material is. Marine vinyl? Can I use thin epoxy resin to glue that material onto the edge of the marine plywood that is coming apart? What do you good people think?

I'd say epoxy would work (though if that is a vinyl bead, it may not bond to the epoxy.)

I'd be more worried about the areas where the plywood is cracking and delaminating - water ingress in there will continue to dismantle the ply. Sand it all down and give it a good coat or two with a thin epoxy mix, then build the edges up with a thicker mix.

Brute force solution, but should work fine.

Conclusion

Used a new expoxy a retailer recommended. Not even out in the market yet. The boat went out in the water yesterday. Worked fine. Pics of repaired marine ply and the epoxy.
