Replacing bow grab handle

After some mishandling on my end the metal bow grab handle on my SIB snapped.

Actually it was the pvc strap keeping it in place that ripped.

As it’s possible to buy replacement bow handle patches, such as this one: https://ibsparts.co.uk/product/pvc-bow-grab-handle-s-s-on-patch-grey/ I thought I’d give it a try to glue a new one on.

Anyone with experience from this kind of repair work?

From what I’ve read so far it should be possible to remove the old patch with a hair dryer. I guess a heat gun would be too hot risking damage to the boat itself.

To glue the new patch on I’ve understood that the air temperature should be at least 20C / 68F in order for the glue to stick properly.

I guess my main concern is that a grab handle would need to stick pretty hard as it would be subject to a lot of pressure.

Any advice on this would be highly appreciated.

Any specific glue preferred over others for example?

All input would be highly valuable!

Cheers!
