Whilst I'm relatively fit David, that's taking it a bit far.
I managed to make it upto the Cresselly Arms something I wanted to do last time we came but the tides & times didn't play ball. I was really pleased that I managed to get there this time.
I am still amazed with tides. The 2nd & 3rd picture are taken 2 hrs after the 1st picture, a difference of approx 2.5 mtrs.

What a difference 24hrs makes. I had planned to launch at Amroth today. Nice slip for a sib with transom wheels with hard sand down to the water. Good place to launch and explore the coast along to Wiseman's Bridge, Saundersfoot and Tenby. Although Amroth is just ok, it has decent parking and it is probably the most accessible place to launch at low tide. I'll take another look on Sunday hopefully the weather/sea state improves, if not plan B it will be.

Wind and tides don't look particularly good on Sunday to launch anywhere other than on the Cleddau, which I will do later in the day. However the winds look much lighter and from the SW on Monday so thinking about launching from Little Haven and maybe exploring the northern side of Skomer. Has anyone launched a sib from Little Haven at low tide with a light SW wind? Any tips would be gratefully received.

Well that was the last boating day of this holiday and the weather man got it totally wrong again. Arrived at Little Haven expecting wall to wall sunshine to be greeted with big threatening black clouds, but more disappointingly big swell crashing onto the beach making a beach launch impractical with a dog this was after all the forecasts gave great conditions!
A quick hop over to Dale which is much more sheltered saved the day. Managed to get a couple of hours around the mouth of the Cleddau before heading back.
The picture shows what the weather man thinks is wall to wall sunshine in Dale!
Can't complain though, it's been a good two weeks and I'm off to Scotland on Friday

Thats really interesting. Dale ticks many of our boxes with varied cruising area, boat suited accom availability adj the water, slip, pontoon, cafe etc. Long old haul over there for us though, an hour longer than Brixham.

That extra hour may well be worth it though David, if only to give a new boating area experience. It is so varied and interesting I don't think you would regret it.
I will definitely be back as I didn't get a chance to launch and explore from Little Haven or Solva which is something I definitely want to do.

Yep probably true. This year our away periods are too brief for that long haul but for a 10 days or so next year I'll keep it on the short list. Genuinely grateful for the heads up as I've always thought Milford Haven a combination of "terminal" and "here be dragons" on the charts.

Sorry to our Pembrokeshire members, but I can't disagree. The Valero oil refinery and Milford Haven are not the most picturesque of places, but after a day or two you tend to disregard them. It is an outstanding and beautiful part of our country, and perfectly suited to this hobby of ours.
Our last day and as sods law would have it, it's the sunniest and hottest of the holiday now that I've packed the sib away. Mind you the high tides aren't particularly at the best parts of the day, very early morning or very late at night.
Good excuse to come back sooner rather than later.

I was puzzled by the Youtube header image as it looked like you'd launched in the mill pool in front of the castle. I realise now the wall is the tide dam not castle defences.
You did well to get that far up anyway. I struggle to lose my old days bigger boats mindset re shallows despite knowing you could get out and walk a SIB along if it got that bad.

I never thought it looking like the castle's defences, but now you've pointed it out it does very much look like it.
I've got a couple of other videos to edit (trip to Cresselly Arms and around Dale) I will post them on here when I get time to finish them.
