Roll Away SIB

Hi - I`m new to the forum and have gainedsome great insights into SIBBING from reading posts/threads..
I am looking for a SIB for a spot of inshore fishing and fun, The boat is to be carried in the back of the van.
For fishing it seems an air floor is not really recommended but I would rather not have the hassle of assembling ply / ally floorboards. (many threads say it is a pain)
Advertised on a well known site is a 3.4m Avon roll away - This has roll up linked slatted plastic floor panels which the vendor says gives a rigid ride when the boat is inflated with the convenience of a roll up set up.
Any advice from anyone who has experience of these type of boats would be appreciated.
Many thanks
SIBBOB

Hi Sibbob

It's great to welcome another angling SIBber into the fold.

I wouldn't agree that an airfloor SIB is not suitable for fishing. I have nothing but praise for the Zodiac Fastroller we have used for around five years. Like you, we usually carry the boat rolled up in the back of a van, it really couldn't be simpler or more hassle free.

Having said that, I haven't seen the roll up floor of the Avon.

I'm sure there will be lots of help along shortly.

Cheers

Hi Sharkbyte.
I have already seen your video on the site. That is one of the reasons for me wanting some of the action as well.
Thanks for the low-down on your sib. The inflatable floor models do seem to have a deeper V design which would give better handling and ride. Also much lighter too.
The Avon Roll Away looks cool and being an Avon it should have many years life left in it.
Maybe I too will be able to link some fishing footage on this site before the end of the summer.
Have already made a set of launching wheels - got access to lots of stainless. All I need now is the boat and the outboard.

Keep us posted, Sibbob.

Like you say, Avon is a quality manufacturer. They do not produce rubbish.

I'll definitely be looking forward to any fishing footage. Reminds me, about time I did some more!
