It is certainly possible. I haven't heard if anyone doing it though (although I'm sure it has been done).

It's 60 or so miles so would be a long day. Pick a nice day for it though and it could even be fun!

its been done on windsurfers, so sibs should be fine if you got big enough fuel.

I holiday in the IOW just east of the needles quite a lot and would be very interested in this.
Round by the needles and round by st Catherine's can get very choppy so would probably need some serious planning.
Would be worth it though.

"impossible" equals "I'm possible"

I am up for that on the right day, safety in numbers...

Even at only 15 knots that only 4 hours, with an hour for lunch it's still only 5 hours!

I went round on a jet ski in 2 hrs 10 mins and was back at Calshot having a morning fry up at 9am!

It's surprising how much s small Solent chop can slow you down, and the ergonomics of a tiller-steered SIB are pretty lousy which makes it hard work too.

In anything but a flat calm I've found that a 10 knot average is more realistic for a SIB. I've done Portsmouth to Cowes a few times, and it's about an hour. Round the Island is equivalent to three return trips.

St Catherines and the Needles could slow you down a lot too. Even on an otherwise good day

I'm not suggesting that going round would be a bad idea, but neither should anyone underestimate it.

I did it on a stand up jetski last year

Camped on the beach over night though it took two days as we set off and returned to Littlehampton
