scored a 15hp honda 4stroke with electric start long leg. .. but is it to heavy ?

i am used to a 8hp tohastu but i can't plane the new 3.8 avon rover. So i found a really good deal on the honda 15 4 stroke, nice and quiet i just have to build a jack plate (it is a long leg). I do have a trailer but i like to dingy wheel up the beach and stuff a different tides.

I can left the motor on and off, but not sure if i am wimp but i can't carry it more than a couple feet.

That is a very heavy engine and a few feet would be normal. Have a read of this thread.

That Honda 15hp is over 50kg which is just too heavy to be a comfortable lift given that outboards are not a straightforward carry due to their shape and centre of gravity. Ideally you want to be carrying the old 2-stroke 15hp models around 36kg but if you want to go 4-stroke the latest Efi models are just over 40kg. A 10kg difference can be the difference between being able to move one about and not.

I have a 20 hp 4 stroke (Merc) I can only carry that about 2 - 3 feet and when I do I always feel like I am going to injure myself. Sadly a 4 stroke engine of the power we need on our sibs to plane is a heavy beast
