I would be interested in a trip as I've always wanted to visit the places I read about on here but do not have the experience / know how to safely do so!!

Quality day out.
For those that want to build their confidence up I recommend going here on a nice calm day.

Plenty of help at hand should you need it as well.

I'm quite new to sibbing, bought a honwave 3 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did. The best trips I've had are round iona and out to Staffa/treshnish isles, the Torran rocks, eigg and muck, round the ardnamurchan peninsula and down to Tobermory. My favourite trip was from Crinnan through the corryvwreckan and then down the west coast of jura to a spot called corpach bay - gorgeous. Camped there a couple of nights then out round colonsay and back. Can't wait until next year when I can do it all again and also explore some new places.

Thanks. I got a bit of a row from someone in a yacht once - he said I was being 'a bit adventurous'. I got in touch with the coastguard after that as I wasn't sure - they gave me some advice but pretty much said what I was doing was okay,

Its definitely on the possibilities list. That does mean crossing the falls which might be a little intimidating for any inexperienced folk / very small sibs - although they could launch at Taynuilt... ...and with good planning and "help" around it is not too bad.

I had another idea... Caledonian Canal end-to-end... logistically a few extra challenges with it starting and finishing different places, but its potentially more of a journey in a wee boat than a big one.

Loch Nevis and Loch Hourn are my two all time favourite sea lochs on the west coast.. and I will do them again in a heartbeat.

The only problem for SIBS is ... the weather would have to be very good... any wind at the fast tidal narrows of Kylesknoydart on Loch Nevis and at Caolasmor on Loch Hourn ..and smaller SIBS will be struggling in the confused waters.
I was once trapped in Loch Hourn for two days because an unexpected wind got up. I was in a 2.7m slat floor SIB with a 2.5hp engine. It didn’t bother me because I had all the time in the world and was wild camping anyway.
Because it will be a pre arranged date so can’t rely on good weather.. the remoteness of these two sea lochs and the exposed sea access..Im not so sure it would be a good idea ?
But I will certainly go if others are going..and will do it again in a decent weather window next year anyhoo.. if you are planning it.. at that time too.. perhaps we can tie in for a joint adventure ?

I meant to take the weekend off this year and do that tour with the missus but with one thing and another it never happened.

I took a blast round to Inverie for a pint at the end of this summer, I really haven't been ANYWHERE as beautifull.

It might be a little adventurous for a SIB run right enough.

I've spotted you a couple of times up these parts but I've either been up on the hillside looking at you through the binos or been driving the opposite direction.

Hey you might have seen me clambering up the hills behind you too..I did a few of the Corbets there last year

Here is the Tesco Extra Value tent on Longsands camp site..just park the boat in the shelter of the river



Then stroll round to The Old Forge..the most remote pub in the UK...access only by boat or foot.. and wash a dinner of fresh caught langoustines down with a few glasses of the dark health drink they sell there...what could be better ?
