We went to Lake Annecy back in early June but didn't take the boat. After seeing how beautiful the lake is we want to go back and take our boat next year.
I'm doing my PB2 course next week and then i'll apply for my ICC. As you have experience of boating on Lake Annecy is there anything else I should look out for? Did you launch your boat each day or did you leave it on the lake?
Cheers and I'm very jealous!!!!

we stay at Le La Bleu camp site in Doussard and you can launch off of their 'beach' FOC if you are staying there.
Bienvenue au Camping International du Lac bleu
There is a public slipway next door at the marina too.
Deffo need PB2, ICC, CEVI, Insurance, SSR, you must carry a copy of the lake regulations with you at all times, must fly a lake specific blue water ski flag if towing and last year the lake police started to impose the need for flares to some of the larger boats but i'm not sure if they be imposing that on sibs.
fantastic place to stay/ski/boat - couldnt recommend it highly enough

Cheers, that's perfect. We'd just been talking about it last week and then I saw your post.
Thanks again. :-)

I'm down at Doussard, Lake Annecy, on the 4th August. We are taking our 4 metre Valiant Rib with 40hp. We are staying at LaRavoire Campsite. I have got insurance, SSR, I have a ski boat driver. What else will I need to do or take to comply with the local boating regulations - I've done all my power boat, safety boat and PWC courses, but 20 years ago and the RYA no longer have records!
We have paid for a mooring at the marina, to save the hassle of launching each time, as we are going in our VW California.
And anything else about the area - places to visit, things to do, Good restaurants....etc

As Bongy has said you need your ICC, insurance, SSR, flares and a copy of the lake regulations. The lake Police are really hot on all these.

Hey Warren not long now!!!!
Oli - Annecy Markets are a must but I havent done too many restaurants as we are more BBQ/cook outside types
Thone is a nice place with a weekly market thats good too.
Annecy has a massive firework display the day you arrive
Mont Blanc isnt far away bit we love the lake that I've never made it there in the last 2 years!!
The lake is so good that you never want to be away from it if you can
Youre close to us (Davenport5, one other & me) so look out for 3 Bombard 380s out on the lake together. What type colour Rib do you have - any distinguishing things we should look out for

Thanks for the replies. My valiant rib is light grey, with a 40 mariner on the back.
I have sorted my ICC out, via the British water ski club, who I have a ski boat driver award with. All I need to do now is my CEVNI, any recommendations who t take it with online?

If you have your ICC already then you don't need to do your CEVNI. If its subject to doing your CEVNI then do it online on the RYA website. You can keep practicing it for free until you are ready to do it.
http://www.ryainteractive.org/course/view.php?id=76
Don't forget that you need to carry the lake regulations. You get them from the tourist information by the entrance to the slip way in Doussard.

This is wrong: the ICC (which you can obtain from the RYA if you have a PB2 for a fee or free if you are a RYA member) is generally (although not universally) accepted as the certificate of boating competency required by those countries that require such certificates. No more.
As an additional option, the ICC can be endorsed for inland waters. In countries that are signatories to the Basle Agreement (RAINWAT countries) (don't ask! but they include France) this involves passing the CEVNI test which can be done online in this country through a number of RYA approved schools. The cost is the same wherever and, I believe, the exam is the same for all. This permits passage along inland waterways in RAINWAT countries. Whether lakes are included as inland waterways is subject to categorisation.
Incidentally, waters covered by CEVNI regulations require ATIS on your VHF plus OFCOM state that you should carry a copy of the Basle Agreement (although I have yet to find any authority for that). It is many pages long. I take one with me but have yet to be asked to produce it!
My attitude is to take as many pieces of paper as possible and hope that at least some of them provide what the authorities are looking for ............. unless there's a Channel Islander in your party with an Australian passport who's helming a Special Forces boat entering a military base in France and you're the only one that speaks the language: in such circumstances I'd recommend seeing your wife off on a ferry in another part of the dock

Good point. I forgot that you could have an ICC without inland water. I assume that if he has an ICC for coastal waters then he will need to pass his CEVNI and then re-apply for his ICC to be able to use Annecy lake. The easiest way to pass the CEVNI is online.

The RYA sell a book on it but you can also keep doing the practice test online and if you get it wrong it will tell you the answer. After doing it for about an hour you will start to know all the questions. The official online questions will then be some of these questions in the same format.

Just don't try doing the tests on-line if you own a MAC, the RYA do not produce the course to run on a MAC, you need windows

Popup blocker on "Firefox"
However the course still will not load, as it does not recognise the OS system.
