SIB Insurance
Hi all, my car insurance renewal just came through and yes, I've forgotten about insurance for my new SIB and OB.
Has anyone any suggestions for which insurance companies are good and conversely which to avoid like the plauge.

What sort of price would a sib and outboard insurance cost? We talking £100 £200 etc?
I know it depends on kit but ballpark appreciated.
Thanks

£40 or so for many lower value used outfits up to £80 for newer kit with slightly extended mooring conditions.
Run a quote here for an idea, you don't have to give any personal details.

Hi F, I think if your a newbe like me, you'll be paying a bit more than £80 for new kit.
Craftinsure wanted £170 for my SD360 & 15hp Merc. I managed to get it down to £130 fully comp from AIG.

What class boat did that quote cover?
I've just run a quote for someone with no no-claims and a £5000 outfit and their price is £77.62.

Well, with Craftinsure a quick quote of £83.33 with £100 excess will cover £7000 of gear.
That should cover even the most exotic new sibs out there.

I've been putting the class in as Rib, guess I should have put it in as "motor"

Yep as long as your max speed is about 23kts it comes in the small boats class. I see they have actually added the word SIB to the website.

You live and learn! I'll know better for next year.
I'll be posting a brief review of my 1st week on Ullswater with my SD360 and 15hp Merc next week when I get back and have sorted out some decent pics.
