Sib fish finder, rod mounts etc

Hi all, I’ve recently sold my dory13 and purchased a SIB for fishing and fun with the family, and looking for options for mounting a couple of rods and a fish finder.

I’ve seen the Borika, Railblaza type mounts but have no experience with them nor know of any other brands. Any pointers on this type of mounting system would be great.

Alternatively, I’d be very interested in seeing your diy sib gadgets and setup’s. Sometimes this just works better than off the shelf kit. I’ve just welded up a trolley for storing and transporting my outboard and wired up a battery box with ports for the fish finder, usb’s etc. It’s all part of the fun.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated

Cheers guys
Dave

Which SIB type did you end up with?

Anyway I can't remember in previous discussions if I've linked this but here is my setup and the mods I've made over the last few years re seats, lift handles, plotter/sounder mount, bow trolley etc. There's nothing about fishing in there but a lot about getting a SIB spot on for our use at sea. You might find something of interest.

Hi Fenlander, thanks for the reply. Great post and exactly the sort of reply I was hoping for. Lashing the fish finder to the seat and fitting the transducer to a piece of wood and mounting over the transom are great ideas and simple! I’ve purchased a CarbonPro400 that I’m hoping will arrive within the next week, as only been on the water once since selling my boat and itching to get back out while the weather is good.

Shed loads of info on the forum if you use the search function. Here're a couple of my efforts. But there are many more, too many to list.

Hi Dave, I’ve had a good search through the forum and found lots of good ideas, but it’s sometimes nice just to have chat and ask too 😊

Your setup looks great. I like the use of utilising the bolts for the transom wheels for attaching things on the other side. Save drilling holes which I want to avoid. I really like the bracket youve made for your fish finder and compass too. What material did you use?

The black plastic is some off cuts I fished out of a skip. It’s quite soft, most likely polypropylene. It’s textured on one side & shiny on the other.

Top find! Looks really good.

That’s exactly how I sourced the bits to build the outboard trolley 🤣

There are a few things some might find interesting in this old thread.
https://www.rib.net/forum/f50/nice-l...sib-49728.html

I also had a removable fishing rod holder mount, although not the actual rod holder. I used it for my dive flag instead. Transoms are a great place for poles

Hi Peter, a console on a sib with tiller controls must be pretty unique! Would never have thought of that. Looks really cool.

I received a call from BW this afternoon to say that my sib is arranged for a kerb side delivery on Monday, so have booked the day off work. Can’t wait. Had hoped I would get it this week, but at least I know exactly when it’s coming.

Knowing my luck, it’ll be pouring with rain, but that’ll not stop me from building it up in the garden like a kid on Christmas morning.
