Sib vs Seal

Doing a spot of fishing along the South Peninsula of the Mull of Galloway today.
Pollock were nibbling away then wham!
Thought I had hooked big bad Barry!
Rod bent double, nearly wrenched out my hand - zzzzzzzzzzz then ping!
Nearly pulled me in as well.
At first I thot I had snagged on the bottom then 20 yards astern emerged - ppppfffftttt!
Sammy the seal!
Powered along past 25 - 40 seals then all went quiet so I dropped down my new lure.
1 minute later feeling pleased I wired into another fish.
As I battled to land it I saw a grey torpedo blast past the port side then whang.
Sib went into auto reverse.
Felt like a steam train dragging me backwards.
35lb nylon snapped like thread.
A lot has been said about depleting fish stocks due to over fishing.
Must have seen 80 seals today around the Sourthern edge of the Rhinns of Galloway.
I'm sure the average seal has a more productive day at sea than me!

A few pics of the hungry blighters!
By the end of the encounter they were actively following my Sib in search of a cheap meal.
They are probably just as outraged that I encroached on their myre!

Funny - similar thing happened to us but with dolphins and we were wading. One came up and snatched the trout off my friends stringer. I then thought I'd put mine on a shorter distance away from me on my stringer so that they hopefully wouldn't come near. Wrong. They grabbed it anyways and pulled me about 5 feet in the water until it snapped loose. I thought it was funny but the guys quickly noted that it was dangerous and could have pulled and kept me under water.

Lol!

I'd imagine a dolphin to be a equal to - probably a more powerful swimmer than a seal.
That would be a scary prospect.

In a tug of war - 2.5hp Sib vs Seal there was only going to be one winner.
Thankfully my nylon gave out before things got too ugly as I wasn't letting go of my new rod a reel
