SIB wanted
I'm after a 2nd hand SIB between 2.6m and 3.3m long, obviously going to be quite old. I only after spending around £50-£100 on the boat, seen a couple on ebay go for this sort of price and they usually need patching due to leaks. I don't mind buying one that needs a little bit of work doing like fixing punctures. I only plan to use it for going on the lakes in the lake district, once i've got a sib i'll get an outboard for it at some point. Anyone got anything like this?
Thanks
Richard

There is a list of upcoming boat jumbles here:
http://www.boatjumbleassociation.co.uk/
With Middlewich in March, Preston in April and Humberside in May.
Ebay may be just as good - Avon Redstarts / Redcrests come up regularly and may be in your price range. However, make sure you buy one with an engine bracket - second hand the engine brackets are like rocking horse poo (and VERY expensive brand new).
Cheers
Chris

I sure wish I could speak Brittish so I could follow along with these conversations. Isn't a 'car boot' something like a trunk? I've never seen a SIB with a trunk. Even if they came with trunks, why would they sell just the trunks?

What's the old saying? Something like 'two nations divided by a common language'
My SIB has two (elephant) trunks, but I don't think that is what you meant
I guess the equivalent to a car boot sale would be a flea market? Otherwise Wikipedia sums it up pretty well:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_boot_sale
I like the last line:
Quote:
It is not unknown for stolen goods or pirated videos and DVDs to be sold at car boot sales.
|
Where they might as well say 'It is not unknown for bears to s**t in the woods.
Cheers
Chris

Thanks Chris,
That makes more sense now. Yeah, I would imagine there might be a hot (Transl: nicked) item or 2 at those events!
Now that you mention it, my SIB also has 2 trunks, but no boots unless I pack a pair (Transl: wellies) along.
