Just £741 for that Y.
That has to be the biggest SIB bargain I’ve ever seen on here.

I just came on this thread to post up about that boat. I noticed that if you google Y class boat, that this is the actual boat in the picture on wikipedia

I had a Y and sold it but if that orange example had been closer I’d have been super tempted.

Aerotec 420 looking very clean and with no interest so far... all depends on age of course re potential glue issues. Longshaft transom has been cut down for a shortshaft too.... no big deal in my mind.

Well I was told by a Zodiac dealer that the expected life of glue on a PVC Aerotec was about 18yrs and many have suffered issues with PVC Zodiacs 15yrs and over.

Depends on the boat/brand/material - old Hypalon Avons seem to live for ever!

>>> old Hypalon Avons seem to live for ever
Yes those old boats would often do 40yrs before any bits started to fall off. I wonder if a new Hypalon model bought today would last the same? When I bought a new £1400 PVC Zodiac around 2011 you could upgrade to Hypalon for around another £600. Just looking quickly I can't see any of the Zodiac leisure range SIB available in a Hypalon option now.

Watched that program saving lives at sea which featured the RNLI in the Bristol channel.
Looked like an Avon with a 50 hp mariner outboard.
Went out in a very rough sea to rescue a couple.
Praise to to the gentleman who jumped in to rescue them as they were being taken out with the tide.

I grew up down the road, everyone local knows “you don’t go in the sea!” But sadly it takes lives there every year.
Scary but brilliant stuff that one, in 20 mins one shout turns into three with 5 casualties and 3 crew in the boat by the end!

This is an interesting zodiac. Would it be hypalon being so old?

Not a SIB, bit a good SIB engine;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15hp-Yamaha-Outboard-2-Stroke-Engine-Great-condition-Works-perfect/233907101885?hash=item3675f320bd:g:xJEAAOSwaF1gNOr h
A "brand new" 2 stroke yam 15hp standard shaft.
I don't think I'll be bidding though as the seller is a scouser with zero feedback and the prop and gearbox have clearly been used, so not "brand new" it doesn't seem to be putting the bidders off though.
