Great stuff, not too far a drive from me either.

Now the big question. Which is the better motor, the 20hp Honda or 20hp Suzuki?

Richard - please don't take this the wrong way but rather than tacking lots of different questions onto various other topics that get muddled and lost - it would really be best to start one new topic asking for specific advice on your new purchase there. Many on here will be able to offer advice and you'll then be able to keep it all on topic there - have a good read through the sticky too.

Silver or black... black or silver... just choose the colour you like best really!

Or how about silver and black for the best deal?

Mariner 20hp engine (outboard, short or long, 4-stroke) F20M

(If your back is strong)

Thanks Max, fair point.

I was kind of weary of starting another "which SIB" thread as I'm sure it's often asked. But perhaps that's better than 'thread highjacking'.

(I've also read the stickies, which were great and answered a huge number of my newbie questions)

Always best to start a new topic to avoid 'hijacking', everyone is different and the sticky advice is pretty general. Having said that the end result is so often the same - Aerotec or Honwave.

I'm sure if you ask willk nicely he will amalgamate all these posts into a new topic you start, heard he loves doing that sort of thing........

Richard if you're near Cambridge then feel free to come over and see the Honwave/Honda or we could even sneak into the river for a quick hour or two if you wanted a test drive. PM me.

That Quicksilver outfit is really clean... the Johnson 8hp in particular. Had you noticed the monster "flipper" trim flaps shown in pic 5... never seen them fitted to a SIB before.

Yep nice looking Avon too... wooden oars... grey tubes with red accents... those red blow up cushions... blue/grey era Mariner... complete classic.

Yes, and that QS is 5 miles from me....kind of a shame David when you settle on an outfit - I miss the old buying and selling all the time!

If you're going to trailer a SIB though no point in messing about with airfloors and 15's - that 4m Avon with a 25 is an awesome boat, tons of space and pace and will no doubt go for relative peanuts. If I had the space to store it...

Well yes it was interesting to work through the various SIBs & outboards to reach the current "ideal" setup. Of course having bought new over the last 6mths I'm kind of locked in for at least 4-5yrs to make the depreciation work out.

Thanks Stigomery, that's a very generous offer. I'm a bit further away than I thought from Cambridge, I'm in South London. For some reason I thought I was a lot closer.

I had a bid on that, put my maximum at £1100. Not sure I'm prepared to spend new prices on a Aerotech, but for not much more than a Honwave, including pump and wheels I thought not too bad.

They seem to hold there value so I figured if I changed my mind I could get my money back.

It's here Sean... Inflatable Boat | eBay

Excel XHD 385 (Aluminium section floor) with Tohatsu 18hp 2-stroke. Starting at £1600 it's a decent outfit (if a bit of a faff with that size alloy floor to setup) as the outboard is very desirable.

Re the Aerotec just sold... the guy was astute to split it and the Yammy 15... total price £2529 which he'd never have achieved as a package. Yes a firm price for the Aerotec but whatever folks might say it does confirm the demand with 12 individual bidders wanting a go at it.

Be interesting if it's someone on here... or someone who comes on here soon with questions.

Makes me think I should have bought that outfit I looked at if only to split and sell. I'm not really looking to deal them though.

I'm still looking to buy new, have been in contact with bombard direct.

>>> have been in contact with bombard direct.

Will they sell outside the dealer network then?

No but they are handling the sale and a dealer will handle payment.

They've had it inspected at each stage and the UK sales manager will deliver it (hopefully) soon.
