Speed!

Recently completed the break in of my 9.8 outboard I got 19mph with this on my 330 excel sib, this was in a slightly wavey sea and I think I was going against the tide but not 100% sure. Dos 19mph sound about right?

Thanks

I always work in Kts so 16.5 which sounds about right for a 9.8hp on a SIB.

I'd be happy with that. Trimming, weight distribution fiddling etc might gain another 1/2 knot or so.

Sounds like a good speed on a wavy sea for that size boat and engine.

For comparison, using a common tracking app, I recently logged an average of 20 mph, peaking at 20.5 mph, going downstream in my 310 with a 9.9 4 hp motor. The current probably accounted for 1 mph or so of that. So that's 16–17 knots, in perfectly flat conditions, solo.
