Strong but Cheap Outboard Barrow for £30

With the pending arrival of my 15 HP Mercury 2 stroke which should weigh 34 KG I thought I would make a barrow to transport it from Shed to car and anywhere else for that matter.

Like most I was horrified by the cost of bespoke ones so I had a search about and bought a Mac Allister shovel platform sack barrow from B and Q for the princely sum of £28.00

https://www.diy.com/departments/mac-...1357679_BQ.prd

and with some old wood and nuts and bolts I had laying around I went to work and about 1 hour later had what you see below.

I would like the motor a bit lower but that is not possible without major alteration to the barrow.

It is vital to fix the flip down 'shovel' in the down position to give it enough stability. I did this with a wing nut and bolt so I can flip it up for transport if I take it with me.

I will use one of those bendy horse food buckets (£5 most places) on a small stand to flush the engine through after each use

Not pretty but very strong and stable and for £28 who can complain.

The same sack truck that I used from B and Q was quite a bit more expensive at Screwfix
