it was absolutely beautiful sunday/ monday gurnard the sea was so calm and still i felt guilty steaming into it.
saw a few buzzards from a distance but no ospreys.
went to the head of the loch in and out of the islands very peaceful apart from the canada geese playing hell up me being on their patch, had to navigate by the eye when the chartplotter gave up which made it a bit more interesting.
did you have a good trip at Arisaig

Yup..one of the best Jeff..you can read a bit about it here..I was on the water Saturday..Sunday and Monday
http://www.rib.net/forum/f16/dances-...ins-75144.html
Its started to get cold again but I'm watching and waiting the next spell of weather. Got myself a new trailer for the Quicksilver so I can get further off shore again. Not as smart looking as your new one ..but I got a good deal on an Indespension Mini Coaster
The old one rusted away at long last..it was non galvanised..and 12 years old..so served me well

Good news on the new trailer the old one served well though my new one has made a big difference with small sand wheels and built as I wanted it.
Your adventure with dolphins was epic I had the good fortune to dive with one off the amble coast in the eight's and with a basking shark in 2010 the dolphin zapped my mask with its sonar fantastic moment.

Great report and pics Jeff. Despite only having been issued 2x two week permits for Tayvallich over the past 2yrs (so far) we feel very familiar with the place. Reminds us we need to return!

It's a great place David made better with good weather I got chance to sail up the loch this time round its shallow but so still and quite God knows how many times we have been there with four different boats but I enjoyed this one the most getting right in close, great walks for the dog too

There's nothing to do anyway. Probably best if everyone stays down south, or maybe has a go on Loch Lomond [emoji3]

Jeff if you've paid £5 a night for 5 nights... compared with many of those we watched never go near the box... then you've virtually shares in the pontoon.
BTW has the slip had its new concrete extension yet? In 2015 they told us it would be done by 2016 but then last year it was just the same and lots of muttering about "village politics". Probably Jambo slow to get his tender in!
While we were there some idiot with a big jetski used the jet full power to get onto his trailer which dug a blooming great hole in the loose just off the bottom of the concrete which our transom wheels fell into.

to be honest david £25 was fine its £10/night now at easedale but i pay £120 down south to put it in the marina for a week its an expense i am willing to pay for ease just untie and bugger off getting lazy in my old age.
re the pontoons they cost a fair bit to buy then all the mooring chain etc so all those that dont pay should think before not forking out IMO
re the ramp i would say it's the same with a fair bit of crap at the bottom i launched on sunday at very low tide the wheels just on the concrete and she slid off nicely with the old trailer i would have struggled. i did notice a 20 ft draw bar extension at the side i would have used that if needed unless someone gave me a rollocking.
i didn't have a walk on the sea bed past the concrete i would normally to see what its like sometimes they look soft but its only surface crap but since i launched ok i got lazy again.
there's a nice slip at carsaig onto sand with a pier you would have no problems there building plot for sale there too what a spot.

>>>£25 was fine
Totally agree... the slip/pontoon/water tap is such a good facility we've dropped far more in the box than the £0-00 we were due to pay for a hand launch and usually no more than 1hr on the pontoon.

Yep they did extend over the winter. I can assure you that non payers are pursued aggressively.

Hi Jeff
I'm planning to do a bit of wild camping / fishing around Jura next year (probably July), and was looking at launching from Carsaig. Do you know if i can safely leave car and small trailer at Carsaig for a few days, or would Tayvallich be the better option?
Cheers, Steve.

You could leave both on Carsaig green as long as you do it with consideration. Do not leave on the turning space at top of jetty!! Don't leave your trailer anywhere in a carpark or space in the village as that would be frowned upon. You can make arrangements thru the hall committee to leave it at a cost within the boat park adjacent to hall. Hope that helps. J

Hi Steve Billy has answered and better placed than me to give advice. An option might be if you don't get any joy is to contact castle sween camp site they have a slipway.
Also Ashfield farm straight across from tayvalich opposite bank as it were he has a small slipway with a jetty and pontoon there's a grassed area with picknick tables you might be able to camp there. The guy to contact is Martin a great bloke I had a fast fisher at the time and he put it in for me with his landy before the slipway, he's a boater too so understands.
If Jura is we're you want to be you could consider easedale to go from too there's a b&b has a bit of a camp site small! But a good base to wild camp from just options if the weather blows up.
Cheers Jeff
