Trailer security?

Hi, a bit cheeky as it's not for the SIB, but the sailing dinghy we're getting in a month or so. It will be a 12 ft sailing dinghy on a combination trailer.

I need to sort out some security. I am thinking in terms of a hitch lock and a wheel clamp. Quick Google searches show a bewildering selection from fairly cheap to very expensive.

What do other forum users use and recommend, please?

Thanks,

Mike

Cheap wheel clamps can take as long as a whole minute to get them off but generally less than 10 seconds should do it.

Find a second hand "Full Stop Nemissis" they're expensive new but there's always a few used ones kicking around Gumtree or Ebay.

Is this to secure the boat and trailer or the trailer while your out on the water?

Good ground anchor and chain round the frame for storage add a hitchlock or clamp if insurance requires it.

Have a look at bulldog security products http://www.bulldogsecure.com/view/bu...und-anchor/206

I use this http://www.bulldogsecure.com/view/bu...-trailclamp/84 but it is wheel size specific they crop up on ebay from time to time

Again wheel size related, heavy & quite big but I have one of the big red Bulldog Titan clamps.
Only issue has been the red finish - powder coat - which has all flaked off due to surface rust. To be fair I've had it for nearly 30 years so it's had a bit of exposure.

When at home - lives on the drive - it has another clamp on one of the other wheels as well.
