Transom Mods

Thought this might be of use to all those web users sifting for info on strengthening their transom.

1. Extra pvc layered over the rubber mount ($160 kiwi at my local)
2. Bolts and washers through rubber mount and transom (4 per side)
zinc dipped, totally sealed with sikaflex something

Zinc dipped won't last - get some stainless ones!

Agree with Cookee on that one.

Not sure they provide much in the way of extra security in either case though. If the glue fails, the material will likely tear around the bolts or washers anyway.

Thanks for the heads up on zinc plating. I'd say you're right jyasaki on the bolts, but it gives me another out (temporarily) for when the glue fails. PVC on there aswell would be ideal but I'm on a student budget!
