Tube sealant

Is there any difference between standard liquid Latex and Seal Skin or any of the other sealants marketed with the word "marine" in the title ?

If so, could someone explain the difference?

It's just that standard latex is half the price and if it will do the same job I'd rather use that !

Apparently they're all the same, I used the rib stuff but others use standard liquid latex with great results.

It's the same with many products. Couple of years ago I went to buy some 'Vanish' to soak some lines in overnight but balked when I saw the price of it. Checking the active ingredient with the Co-op's own label equivalent sitting next to it on the shelf it turns out to be exactly the same, but the Co-op version was only one third of the price.

Hi, they are not all the same, Sealskin is made from a liquid acrylic not latex. The problem with latex is that when it dries it forms the skin but then it can have the tendency to stick to itself when the tube is deflated and rolled-up, acrylic based sealers dry to a skin that does not stick to itself.
Cheers
Chris
