Ultimate Sibbing/Camping Trailer
When we take our SIB places we find that the car gets very full and now we also have the Boatworld KAT Sport 330 and want to take this along as well as the Honwave I pulled my Brenderup box trailer out of the hedge and decided to 'convert' it to be the ultimate sibbing and camping trailer. I will also store the sibs in this as it is sealed and should therefore be vermin free.
Here is a video of the trailer so far. I will refine it as we use it.
According to the specs it should be capable of a 520 KG load which I suspect with all of my gear we will never come close to.
The trailer also has rear wind down stays so that you can pull heavy stuff out etc without it tipping up

Maybe a canvas bellows affair to fill the sides of the trailer when the lid is up and you could sit comfortably on a cassette toilet in a layby

Now that is something to think about. I could also get Naz to put some tunes around the bottom and it could float on a loch

Very similar to Pikey Dave's set up. Are you going to put in a rolling floor like he did?

If towing a trailer to move the boat(s) around, why not just get a bigger boat that lives on a trailer? Or go BIG!

No the sib will slide nicely in the bag on the EVA flooring we put in. I am sure things will evolve as we use it. It was a trailer I had when I used to fly RC jets and other planes. So it was not being used. I think it should work well and get all the stuff out of the car/Motorhome/campervan

I agree, think if I didn't have the truck to stuff everything in the back of and leave the "car" space free I'd get a trailer.
Bit worried when you said "fly" I thought you was going to say tip! Then I remembered you don't do that, you bury things for a few years
Only joking Dennis

No problem. Our situation is that Her indoors sadly could not have Children and consequently and in some small way life compensates you with the money you would otherwise have spent on them or would leave to them. This means you either pile it up (which is pointless) or spend it on stuff and doing stuff. We do both and given that time is precious this trailer should make things easier and also allow us to take and enjoy more toys when we go of on various trips. We even enjoy simple putting things like this trailer together.
Got a largish shed to refelt today. Modest quality felt lasted 30 plus years though so pleased with that

Nice work. Looks really well done and the bike racks is a nice addition to the otherwise dead space at the front. I'm generally ok with carrying everything in the car but it would definitely be nice to get the fuel and outboard outside at least.
Does it get really hot inside though? Any ventilation? (Just thinking about longer term storage of a boat in there).
I see you used proper cable glands for the panel tails too (that's so commonly skipped in favour of a glob of silicone), but would it be an option to run them in through the roof under the panel instead? That way the wire would be protected from accidental damage or god forbid - nosey saboteurs. I'm not up on the UK MOT system, but you'd typically require a fuse near to the battery itself for safety (not just a manual isolator) and it could save your controller if a short occurred. The exposed outer wiring would also require protective shielding/sleeving, especially if the insulation isn't rated for UV exposure. Ideally you'd ground the chassis to the battery negative too.
Maybe even some 12v outlets so you can use an electric boat pump without having to connect to the car? An SAE charge socket would be handy for the winter/darker months too.

Some interesting points. In the U.K. there is no MOT on a trailer

How's the Merry Fisher search coming along? Will you keep it on a trailer or swing mooring?
