Vector 4 stroke

Does anyone have experience good or bad of the 4 stroke Vector engines as I have been offered a reasonably priced 15hp and am tempted.
I have circa £1500 for an outfit to comprise of a SIB and motor and am looking at all sorts at the moment.
It will be used for light inshore coastal work and estuary cruising.

No experience but it looks like another China special. Looks identical to the hidea brand so if you search for that you will get reviews.

Hangzhou Hidea Power Machinery Co., Ltd

At 52kg it is a heavy thing for 15hp. That is quite a weight to be lugging about so think about that too.

Cheers

My local marine chandlers had one in for repair the other week (Hidea 15 hp).
I asked him what he thought of it, him being a Yamaha and Suzuki dealer.
He flew off into a rage shouting the odds about it being cheap yamaha knockoff sh@te and that the only way to get a decent one is buy a Yamaha in the first instance!
I did chuckle to myself at his antics!
Based on that i'd avoid it like the plague!

RIBase
These Chinese copies are a bit of a lucky dip, My pal has one of the £100 2.5Kw generators and it has been faultless, I'd hate to think of the hours on it.

I've got a generator and a petrol water pump, both "acquired", both of them are the work of satan.

As far as I know, the Vector outboard is a supplied Yamaha engine built in the UK by Excel Boats in the Midlands. Please don't hold me to this but I believe all service and back up is at their base at Sutton Coldfield.

Vector Outboards | Boat Engines

Inflatable Boats Sales at Excel Inflatables. RIBs and Outboard Engines.

Hope that helps
