What is the black plastic piece at the back of the transom and what's it's purpose

Ok- I will take the plunge!
It’s difficult to see which way is up from the picture, but is it a mount to fix fishfinder transducer?

Do you have one each side. If so... or if there are signs there has been a second at some point... I'd say mounts for the trim tabs which may or may not have been a Zodiac accessory but certainly was sold by West Marine.

If there has only ever been one then I'd second the idea of a sounder mount.

Zodiac, I can tell from the heat welding on the floor.

It's for factory trim tabs.

Thanks for the replies guys.

These are a terrible point of entry for water.

All 5 screws are below the waterline. No factory sealant is used.
