Hope the weather gods let you out on the water a while Steve.

Think its meant to be a bit breezy for a few days after tomorrow am, (at least for the better half and dog to be happy) , with a few big plops thrown in, but fingers crossed you get a sheltered run somewhere.

Start of next week looking a bit better, but as you know it depends on the micro climates you can get over there.

Just missed you once again as had a quick trip over recently.

Look forward to the reports, vidoes and pics if you get a chance.
Although dont worry about trying to match up to donnys standard nowadays as you've probably seen on youtube

But have a great time anyway

Hi Brin, good to hear from you and that you have managed another trip away. We will have to try and coincide our trips so we can meet up one day.

We had a good day out yesterday, even though it was very choppy (too choppy to take any pics or videos!) Had to change plans soon after we launched. The plan was over to Lismore, head NE then across to Port Appin for lunch, but a stiff breeze from the SW would have ment a horrible return journey which wouldn't have gone down well with Diane.
Plan B, hug the shore down past Oban, across to Kerrera just before the ferry, up to Kerrera Marina for a really nice lunch, then an interesting surf back across Ardmucknish Bay back to Tralee slipway.
Weather is iffy for the next couple of days, so sightseeing and walking it will be.

It definitely wasn't a day to be out on the water in a small red sib today, 15-20 mph winds and really short, but high intermittent chop.
Had planned to go to Seil and under the Atlantic Bridge on Redneck at some point during the holiday, but I don't think the weather is going to be that kind, so we drove down instead.
Had one of the nicest short circular walks I've been on in a long time. If you're ever up this way and are forced to have a no boating day, or you're boating and fancy stretching your legs, I can highly recommended it. Great pint in the Tigh An Truish.

Shame you couldn't get out on the boat, Steve, but I'm glad you had a good time on your walk.

How many more days left of your holiday up there? - and what's the weather forecast like?

Tomorrow (Sunday) is looking favourable, Mon & Wed are looking good for Loch Etive or Loch Leven.

This morning was the type of morning that reminds me why I like being on the water so much.

SUPs are the modern scourge of the waterways lol .

I've been watching the Youtube channel with the old boy who favours Etive, forget the name. Looks smashing, but I'll wait for a bigger engine.
Parkfoot is not always busy but it can rain a bit

Etive has some lovely beaches and of course an excellent launch point at Kelly’s pier or just up a bit further

Good vid, thx. Good wets, I hope .

So that pontoon, is that part of Parkfoot? If I was camping at Parkfoot, would i have to drive down to the water's edge? Leave vehicle there while on the lake?

As I say, I stopped off to look at Cross Dormont, just down the road, and they had their own field where you could launch, but not camp, and presumably leave your vehicle there while out. You don't have to book at Cross Dormont, just turn up. Beyond all this I know nothing about either place.

If you camp at parkfoot that pontoon/slip is on the campsite it is about 300 yards from the middle of the camping field. You could set up and launch and return your car or leave it in the large car park. Google Maps shows it well

Good to see you had at least one really nice day yesterday Steve. Re chippy Paul I really can't remember if it was here or elsewhere he posted, I reckon it was some years ago. Is he still sibbing?

Hi Croolis, it is Castle Stalker just north east of Port Appin on Loch Linnhe.

Hi David, Paul said he's not been on Ribnet for a few years and he's not got a sib, think he's got a hard boat now.
Yesterday was a really good day. Fantastic weather on the way out, great lunch at Port Appin, then around the top end of Lismore. But it really changed on the way back! Wind over tide ment I had to reduce speed to 6/7 knots, however I still managed to get back 45 mins before a 3.5mtr - 20hpTohatsu rib that left Port Appin at the same time! He said he was bouncing so much he had to reduce to 2/3 knots!
Had a mixed day today, great morning down to the end of Kerrera to Gylen Castle but torrential rain on the way back. It's worth it though

The joys of the weather in Scotland. When it's good, it's unbeatable (see Roflhat's photos) but the percentage of days it's like that is quite low and it is easy to get caught out. The choice of boat changes the percentage but Summer 2022 was enough to make me re-appraise whether a 22' RIB was the right choice for the Outer Hebrides.

And the result of the appraisal is/was?

I've still got the RIB but I'm also the proud owner of this. It makes going out in the RIB a very cheap day.
