A picture of the plate would help.

Its possible that someone has switched the plate, but I doubt it.

Not sure what age it is, if its not new, did that model have a lower engine size for previous model years ?

In practical terms I can see no issues with using a 9.9hp on it, with the obvious exception of insurance issues.

The older models are have a more conservative max HP.

IMHO a 3.1m airfloor can easily take a 10hp 2 stroke. The Yam is based on the Zodiac 310 which has had a 10hp max for the last 35 years at least.

But Zodiac started to get very stingy with the max engine size from the start of the Millenium, mainly because of the increasing weight of 4 stokes.

It looks like you have a choice, find a decent 8hp to go with it (The Yamaha 2 stroke twin 8c is excellent and light) or go for a 10hp, but make sure your insurance are OK with it.

Thxs for the input, I was just confused as Yamaha recommend a 9.9hp, but not an issue as I would be very happy with a nice 8 hp yam 2 stroke if I could find one, but would happily go for a 9.8 tohatsu 2 stroke either new or a really nice second hand unit
