Yamaha Ribeye trailer fault?

This was ejected from its trailer in the middle of the road yesterday. Police closed the road while a crane removed the boat.
I'm going to guess the trailer collapsed as I have no more info, is it anyone here?

Another reason not to travel with the engine down.

No secured adequately or some of the trailer would still be attached to the boat? Either way its very sad for the owner and the removal was probably rather expensive!

Not sure if the winch post may have left the trailer as cant see ,however only thing i would say is never move a foot without a chain linked from boat to winch post

Never trust the winch post for anything but winching the boat onto the trailer, even then, I’ve had one let go when the Ubolts snapped. The boat needs lashing back & front down to the trailer chassis. The safety chain needs to go down to the chassis too.

Probably stolen.

That's why the 'owner' didn't hang around after it was lost from the trailer and why it wasn't strapped down properly.

Poor owner. The boat doesn't look to have actually been tied down.

Lots of trailer owners never grease and service their trailers which is why the A34 on a Bank Holiday will always have the remnants of a camping trailer and contents strewn across it at some point. I can imagine that such laxness extends to the pleasure boat sector also?
