Yet another 380 .....

Picked up the latest addition to the fleet last night.....'Red Streak'

Painting the new garage was delayed in order to pump it up. Luckily I stuck some old carpet down in there yesterday so it all nice and cosy with less dust of the floor (still need a sofa, 60 inch LCD and a beer fridge though) And I think I can get Streaker and the Bombard in at the same time.

All just needs a good clean really. As always need the seat, bow bag etc. The first question how doea the seat attach ? From the pics it looks like coach bolts through the eyes and wingnut underneath but i cant find one with enough detail? If any one can post a pic of the detail it would help greatly.

I have aquired some ply so if anyone can tell me how wide the seats are too? I can make one up and spray it black to match. (Nasher when I do it I'll do another too)

Really want to get the bow bag sorted for all the junk it'll need to carry for diving.

And of course looking for a decent engine ( hens teeth time) and maybe a bunk trailer or wheels - a trailer may be cheaper ......

General pics show it as is with my Suz on for the hell of it ( if anyone wants to buy it it has to go ..I'm open to offers..)

Any advice, parts, humorous abuse or comments welcome..

Pete

Hi Pete.

Im looking at getting a Bombard 380, they are supposed to handle incredibly well in the rough stuff with the deep V. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it? They seem to go for around £400 - £600

It has a couple of fixed countersunk bolts at each end, with spin on nut things underneath. That's why I was waiting until I could grab a picture rather than describing it! I'll try to dig it out later today.

Many thanks from all of us who've recently brought cheap B380s that have lost their seats

Ive got the engine for you and I have a roller trailer too. Currently has a Suzumar 360 on it. It's a jet ski trailer.

Priced £250. Can collect it along with the motor if you like.

Now your tempting me ..... .

Probably going to go for a bunk trailer to be a bit more supportive to the hull... all in good time..The boats wedged in the garage behind a skip, a new kitchen and a new bathroom for the next few weeks !

Got one of them too sat under the boat of the engine your buying. SBS quality bit of kit. Priced £350, buy the whole lot for £1500 and you have a nice little boat to sell for around £400, gets you the trailer for FREE

Only kidding. I know your busy. thinking of keeping the boat anyhow. Get an older motor on it and my lad will be back on the water

Changed the valves and gave it a good clean yesterday

But there is still a hiss from the valves before I put the cap on . Can anyone tell me if this is normal ? If not I'll have a fiddle to make sure I've scrwed them in all the way .

I know my old bombard used to hiss a little until the caps went on , but they were the type the aerotec has on the floor - so not quite the same.

The pump also has a 'setting' on it 1-2-3. I guess to get to the right pressure, but on anything apart from '1' it just hisses like its over pressure even when the tubes are flat. Any ideas on how this works ? Or do I just go with gut feeling and make sure the floor is properly hard ?

Engine hopefully to arrive tail end of the week (assuming the bank sort themselves out and Peter gets the money)

Maybe a maiden voyage Friday or the weekend. Is Friday 13th a bad day for a try out I wonder ?

Pete

Pete

The valves on ours also hiss until the cap is put on.

I don't know if it's normal, but judging by the size of the 'O' ring on the cap I'd guess Bombard are expecting them to b the main seal.
After cleaning ours out and not seeing any improvement we've decided to live with it.

I must however find a way to get the correct pressure in the deck without buying a special Bombard pump.

Cheers Nasher - the 'special' pump I have seems odd. I was assuming you start on setting '1' until it stops , then move to '2' until done (for the tubes) , then '3' for the floor....but on anything apart from '1' it just blows out the over pressure type valve in the pump....

I've got a gauge that goes on the end of the pump too , but despite all efforts I cant see anything moving into the 'green' sectors on the dial ( one for tube, one for floor) so no idea if the needle has dropped off or what.

Oh well. I'll go as hard as I can on the floor and sensible on the tubes and see how I get on.

Glad its not just my valves that hiss.. unless we both have a problem. I very lightly smeared some grease round the Orings to see if it helps. I'll find out tomorrow when I look at it again.

Going to make a seat Friday so I'll let you know /post pics of how I get on .

Pete

Yep my valves also his before you put the cap on or in then no problem!
I have not used the foot pump for a year or too, I remember it dose take a long time to get the gauge to go in the the green for the tubes!
I just have to remember to set my bravo pump to the right pressure as I have tried to blow the tubes up the the floor pressure be for now

Got my motor today , Need to fiddle for an hour or so sometime to get it back on the tiller , make sure I have the linkages right, kill cord works etc.

Not too heavy a lump for a 25.... will pick up a tank and bits for it tomorrow from chandlers ....

I'll take some pics too..

The hiss is standard, the cap when screwed on stops any air leakage, it actually says in the manual something like the primary air stopper only hold 90% of the air in and cap must be screwed on to stop any leakage, or something like that...

Engine on !

Got the old bolts out of the motor today , 6 years of corrosion meant i had to cut away the old clips stopping the bolts turning. After 10 mins of care a few mins later they came out easily and the new ones holding the tiller went on. Kill cord and stop switch wired in seconds and then some fiddling with gear/throttles.

Its a bit 'clunky' with the gears and I'm not 100% sure I've set it up right so I may get the locar dealer to spend half an hour setting it up right and they can run it up in tank at the same time. ( unless someone fancies a few beers next weekend in exchange for some time to st it up ? )

Maiden voyage may now be 29th May... need to get a tank, get the gears checked out and and I have job to go and a house , kids and ex to sort at the same time.....
